Subject:  Convention and other event information.

Moderator Announcement. State Convention, Saturday, May 13th.

This year's State Convention will be very important. There are two elections, the first (Moderator) is almost moot as the deadline has passed and nobody has been nominated to oppose me. The other election is extremely important. Everyone interested in the future of the PCP should attend and bring a dozen friends. We will choose between Joe LaBonte and Roger I. Price. Both are good men, but they will bring very different images to the party. Go to their candidate pages and see the vastness of the difference. Both elections will be printed on a single ballot.

Okay, here's the procedure.

Opposed and un-opposed Candidates can set up their displays and literature starting at 9AM on the tables provided in the foyer, which is also scheduled for our party. Please be polite. We are scheduled in the County Commissioners' Chambers (2100 South, State Street, South end of North Building, main floor) from 9AM to 4PM. The action will begin at 10AM. At that time, I will flip a coin. Heads, LaBonte speaks first, tails Price starts. The speeches will begin at 10:20 and each speaker will get ten minutes, with no time for questions. Then, we will prepare for the ballots to be cast at 11:00. Depending on the size of the crowd, we may have people enter the room and cast their ballots upside-down into a large cardboard box and then return to the foyer. Every sentient being who claims to be a registered voter in Utah will be given a ballot without challenge. Thus, you can come and vote without revealing your name or identity, if you wish. We prefer trust and ask only that you claim to be a legally registered voter in Utah, and that you vote only once. Members of other political parties are welcome to come and cast a ballot. After all the ballots are cast, they will be counted without looking at the candidate names. If the number of ballots cast is even, the Moderator, Ken Larsen, will cast a ballot to make the number odd. If the vote is still a tie because of a problem with some ballot, I will again flip a coin to determine the winner. Heads, LaBonte, tails, Price. There will be space on the ballot in case someone wants to run a write-in campaign for Moderator. After the elections are decided, every unchallenged candidate on our ballot will be offered 2 minutes to introduce themselves to the convention. They will speak in the order in which they request to speak. Then, the official business will be complete. However, candidates and non-candidates will then be free to take a number and address the convention for 2 minutes to speak about anything they wish. If you wish to speak for more than 2 minutes, you can take another number (after your speech) and go to the end of the line for your second address. There will be no motions and no official voting (an informal raising of hands is not an official vote). We will end the business when the speakers are through, or at 3PM to give us time to clean up and clear the building. Anyone is free to invite the Convention goers to retire to another place to celebrate.

Second event. I have scheduled a booth for the Personal Choice Party at Pride Day, Sunday, June 4th, all day. Volunteers will be very much appreciated to help set up, take down, transport, and man the booth. It is real work and it will be much more enjoyable if there are several participants.

****
Third event. I have scheduled a booth for the Personal Choice Party at the State Fair, Sept 7 -17. This year we will be indoors. I'm tired of wind and rain ruining a day. We will be in booth number 1 in the Grand Building. That's on the South side of the grass (South of the flag). Our booth will be on the North-West corner of the ground floor. Again, we will need helpers from 10 AM to 10 PM almost every day (an hour later on weekends). Here is a chance for candidates to distribute their literature and meet the public.

****
Donations to the PC-PAC to help defray the costs of booths and literature will be very much appreciated. The PCP is a real party with a real alternative to tyranny as usual in America. Let's make it look like it.

Feedback muchly appreciated.

Thank you,

Ken Larsen, State Moderator
